Convenience of Digsby

with one comment

Update: Wow, Digsby at chat function on Facebook. I’m sure there’s some other application that allows this (and Facebook is going to develop one for the site, so I heard). But again, this looks really neat.

First there was MSN Messenger, Meebo, Windows Live Messenger, Pidgin, and today Digsby. Of course AIM has always been in the picture for U.S users and Adium for Mac OSX users.

Instant messaging has gone a long way from the joy of conducting instant conversation, as if face-to-face, to fulfilling the need to address multiple messaging service to tracking email, social networks and even Twitter.

Just a couple hours ago, after going through several blog posts from my long-neglected RSS reader, I’ve decided to give it try.

The download and installation were done and over within 3 minutes. Next is to add accounts – IM Accounts, Email Accounts, and Social Networks (including Facebook, MySpace and Twitter). After a few verification and authentication sessions, everything is loaded like Pidgin. With the email and social networks options lied neatly at the bottom of the contact list.

Conclusion:
I think its a fairly convenient application on dual-monitors where you can just dock the application on one monitor. Otherwise, it does cramps up the space, even on my 17″ monitor.

If you can’t decide which Instant Messaging Service to use, try reading what Lifehacker has to say. Have fun. :)

  1. You can set Digsby to hide until you move your mouse to the right
edge of the screen, where it will then pop back out.
