Day 171: Deployment begins

It’s my first time driving Arthur and deploying. I can’t believe so much could cork up with just two machines deployment. Hopefully all would be taken care of soon.
Really loved the lighting outside of MAC at Indiana University-Bloomington right after a concert ends. There’s light inside, outside, on the road, people walking, talking, and because its summer the sky isn’t completely dark by 930pm just yet. That was the best I could have done with no tripod and exposure for .8 second on hand. Apparently, my chubbiness didn’t help with my center of gravity.
Some hanging out plus some red helped me sleep.
Day 170: Sending off
A good friend and a good mentor, Daniel has always been there for the group and for me. I remember there was one time that I called him around eleven at night, crying because I had a fight with my Dad. It’s kind of silly but it’s nice to know that you have someone to talk to and talk through with you.
The family will be moving to start a new life in Dayton, Texas. I’m quite sure all of us will miss them dearly for their consistency in providing and caring for us.
We hope to visit you guys sometimes, and by then Samuel would be speaking 7 languages, the youngest PhD at the age of 8 and maybe an awesome basketball player? Potential is an amazing thing.
Best of luck and we love you!

Irresponsible Calderon

Man in controversy.
In this article from Soccernet.com Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon continuously stating that the problem is not his and there is very little he can do. Obviously emphasizing their reputation and integrity in this saga or “soap opera” as he called it.
However, it was quite clearly The Meringues who started the pursue in a very public manner that initially upset even Ronaldo himself. Man Utd has remain determined in keeping Ronaldo who still has 4 more years on his contract.
The step of unsettling was taken by Real Madrid. Why? Because Ronald was happy at United.
The white jersey is stained. Even before this saga came to light, Real Madrid has be known for their attempts to overpower with wealth. It’s a disgrace. And if it turns out Ronaldo did go, I hope the best for him, but it will not be his best decision in his life.
But then again, even though we are of the same age, I’m not being tempted to trade my loyalty for millions.
Needed this.
God blesses the people who patiently endure testing. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. James 1:12
Every morning I still receives ‘Living Water for Your Soul’, a morning devotion email from New Living Translation. And that was the verse I got for yesterday.
In my mind, I’m saying “I hope this comes true”.
But then I know that when God says something, he kinda meant them. So I’m going to try to grab onto this promise.
Checking in on Seattle

via Steve Mohundro via Seattle MetBlog.
- DIY: Fresh Tayberry and Peach Ice Cream
- H&M opens at Southcenter Mall (strange)
- Everything scary that had happened in Seattle this Summer
- Meet people through the hub
- Water-rafting?
So I’m still praying/planning/thinking/contemplating about going back to Seattle on a more permanent basis (until of course when I have to apply for school). There’s so much to do there, but I do need a job to make it a practical and realistic choice.
Day 169: Jam-packed day

After 8 hours was taken off my July 29 2008, we decide to spend a further 5 hours in Showplace 12 to watch Get Smart and Wall-E.
When I got home, deadbeat as usual. And I don’t like it abit. Where’s the energetic Kai?
Day 168: Monroe Lake Sunset?

Yeap, we skipped the cemetery to visit Monroe Lake’s rental dock for sunset and more.
Good evening.
I’ve been feeling rather drained lately. Partially work, partially unpacked apartment and so many things that I want to do/get done. Such would be TOEFL, GRE, ASP.NET, MSCE – all hopefully sooner.
Yea, I did need the sunset part of the day.
Day 167: Daniel’s Farewell Sermon
It probably wasn’t for most people, but I did went a little emotional somewhere amidst all the sharing, encouragements and goodbyes.
Here’s the link for his sermon.
Day 166: Basketball in the morning! :)
I have promised myself 6am SRSC and that hasn’t happened in a week because of all the moving and excuses I made up along the way with it.
So getting to play some ball today was awesome.
Dinner party at one of Andrew’s professor’s place taught me about the Royal French symbol that a synonym of the ones of Boy Scott of America. Pity I didn’t bring my camera, would have been a wonderful shoot. Oh, and my first Salmon burgers are tasty!
Day 165: Weekend!
Its been weeks since I have been so joyful of a coming weekend.
Since graduation, weekend is more or less like a weekday – you do something, you sit around, wait for something to happen, go grab a lunch a dinner, back to maybe studying GRE, web development, job application.
But now after each day’s 8-5, I long for a morning, or an afternoon of break. To actually do something during the day is a blessing in itself.
So, I’m just really glad that this evening on weekend awaits.
Day 164: Prayer Meeting as usual.
I wish there’s more people coming to the prayer meeting.
Today marks the end of the move out. My body’s still aching.
Day 163: Summer ending?
Rumor has it, as athe weather continues to cool, summer is slowly winding down?
Now that was a very exciting news.
Day 162: And today we had Jiffy Treat
Yeap. That was it – highlight of the day.
The weather is starting to cool off a bit, somewhat winding down summer?
So how was Dark Knight?

To start off, I would say the rating description doesn’t fit with the MPAA rating.
“Intense sequence of violence and some menace – Rated PG 13″.
Even though most scenes of brutality were probably censored (it was perhaps an R in the eyes of Christopher Nolan), I still can’t imagine taking my 13 years old kid to this episode of his favorite superhero fighting crimes. “Intense…violence” just doesn’t fit my image of a 13 year old. In fact, if you believe everything that’s published online, Multiplex supports my opinion (or the other way around).
Now diving in – and a good time for spoiler warning!

Day 161: Moments of frustration
Truthfully, I was fairly frustrated when scenarios occurs that went against my belief of the way things ought to be. However, thankfully and regrettably, I have judged people who had probably felt the way I did last night. And knowing that, we decided not to let of feelings led us.
And hey, a violent nearly-three-hours-long movie certainly helps.
American Gangster starring Russell Crowe and Denzel Washington was quite impressive, though the long hours did make the DVD a little less enticing. By the end of it, our eyes are red and tired.
I believe each has hopes in life by looking forward to a future event. For example, a dance, a party, a gathering, a get-away, a vacation, anything that you can look forward to can make you smile and be joyful. I think that’s a good thing.
Day 160: Packing is No Fun
I have been trying to pack up my stuff since late last week. Bit by bits.
I think packing/moving is an exponential growth sort of thing – you start real slow and then when it hits the break-even point, things (hopefully/perhaps) just start to clear up. And then you are ready to move!
That’s a theory. A hopeful theory.
Day 159: Wedding Day & more.
JC and Nova is finally a pair now. Officially in both physical sense and also spiritual sense. Congratulations! It has been a long but truly fruitful journey that I believe have benefited not only the two of them but so many along the way – I know I am one of them.
It was also a great experience for YY and I to both be the bridesmaid/groomsman. Although the pressure was much higher than expected.
In the end, it was a wonderful and lovely wedding with so much help from everyone at the church – including all the details in setting up and the diligence in cleaning up. I’m supposedly the clean-up coordinator, but I didn’t have to do much coordination at all, people just jump at getting the work done. Good job Macedonia and Timothy. You guys were lovely and awesome!
Getting into theater #9 for Dark Knight at Showplace 12 closed out the day. It was a really good movie for me, who’s perhaps biased by all the unofficial media coverages (wow, power of blogging!). It did however left 2 of the 3 girls (YY might be the exception) confused though.
Now back to packing!
My God is More Than Life.

(via Olivier)
Watch this.
Lyrics below.
Stand by everything You said
Stand by the promises we made (even when we forgot them)
Let go of everything I’ve done (even when we cannot)
I’ll run into Your open arms
And all I know
I love You more than life
I love You more than lifeFall back on everything You’ve done
Fall back on everlasting arms
When all the world is swept away
You are all the things I need
You’re the air I breatheHow can it be
You were the one on that cross
Lifted for all our shame?
How can it be
The scars in Your hands are for me?
You are the king of all
Yeah, that’s Jesus.
Day 158: Sort of a busy day
I finally got my hand on my graduation certificate – it’s so beautiful.
Wedding rehearsal was the big piece today, and I didn’t realize it could be quite tiring just standing.
Really excited about tomorrow!
Keep on packing – tiring as well.
